About the workshop

Welcome to "The Ramadan Reset: Empowering Youth to Break Bad Habits and Addictions" workshop registration page!

This workshop is designed to help students develop a better understanding of how to use the month of Ramadan as a means to break bad habits and addictions. The boys and girls will be segregated and attending separate workshops.

  • Facilitator for boys: Faz Rana (Head of Wellbeing at Unity Grammar & Boys Youth Mentor)

  • Facilitator for girls: Jahida El-Assaad (Wellbeing Coordinator at MFIS & Girls Youth Mentor)

During this workshop, students will learn practical strategies and tools from the best-selling book "Atomic Habits" by James Clear. These strategies will help them identify the cues, cravings, and rewards that drive bad habits and addictions related to gaming, overeating, smoking, social media, pornography, and other vices. We will then support students to develop a personalised plan to overcome them during Ramadan. Students will also learn about the negative effects these addictions/bad habits have on the brain.

This workshop will also provide support and guidance for girls who may be struggling with wearing the hijab. The spiritual and psychological benefits of Ramadan can serve as a source of inspiration and motivation for those seeking to strengthen their faith and make positive changes in their lives. Participants will have the opportunity to connect with other girls who may be going through similar challenges and gain insights on how to approach this journey with self-compassion and resilience. Additionally, the workshop will provide practical strategies for managing self-doubt, setting realistic goals, and building a strong support network to help overcome any obstacles along the way.

Moreover, this workshop offers a supportive and empowering environment that encourages self-reflection, goal-setting, and action planning. The attendees will also have the opportunity to connect with other youth in the community. They will also get practical tips and resources for creating new habits, managing stress, and seeking professional help if needed.

It is worth noting that many Muslims have reported experiencing positive changes in their behaviour and mindset during the holy month of Ramadan. However, the effectiveness of Ramadan in this regard may depend on individual factors such as motivation, support, and commitment to change.

Don't miss out on this opportunity to make positive changes during Ramadan.
